silicate of Magnisium , Iron and ALuminium belong to the garnet family. It is more correctly a group of mineral mixer in variable proportions of the two end -members. ( the theoritical extreames are rarely found in nature) mixer in which magnisium clearly predominates over iron are called pyrope . those in which iron pre dominaters are called almondine . Appearence : usually in isolated , granular, crystal , often in the form of a perfect rhombic dodecahedrom , the color is often reddish brown, but cab be definate red, light red, voilet red, or deep blakish red. the crystals which are often semi opec / can be trasperent and limpid with highly lustrous faces , they have no cleavage
